LHB’s Shorties (DiscsForDogs.Org, John Darnielle, and More)


Yesterday's additions to the "best of 2008" online music lists include Gorilla vs. Bear's favorite songs, Pitchfork's year in photos, and Ed Droste's top albums.


The Yellowbird Project has launched a new round of t-shirts designed by indie musicians, with the proceeds going to charity.


John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats talks about his musical past with the NZ Herald.

"I thought Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin were okay, but Heart was my favourite band," he chuckles. "When I was 16 I listened to Iron Maiden and AC/DC records and they sounded good to me. I would suspect, a love of metal begins with the love of that distorted guitar with the mid-range scooped out. The visceral basic response to that crunch."
