Micachu – “Golden Phone” With each day that passes, I become more and more convinced that Micachu (you remember Micachu) is unquestionably going end up being a bona-fide Big Deal.™ Everyone I talk to about her has a sincere “like whoa” reaction. And I realize now why my brain was having such hard time processing Micachu’s songs at first– it’s because it was experiencing genuine surprise, as in “I honestly have not heard anything like this before.” The closest approximation I’ve come up with yet is “like Björk and Blueberry Boat and Bone Machine and Harry Partch, chopped, diced and liquified, then reprocessed, reprogrammed, and ultimately reconstructed, deep in the creative centers of an ADDled Millenial brain.”

I usually roll my eyes when people say, “sound of future,” but I’m wondering if this might not really be it this time. Watch and see if she doesn’t become the “must-see” show of SXSW.
