Micachu & the Shapes – Jewellery

Last year I was sorting through my orphan music downloads, and was startled by a Micachu track, "Golden Phone." Its combination of organic and electronic sound (even incorporating vacuum cleaner noise) combined with its wonderful pop sensibility not only caught my attention, but made it one of my favorite songs of the year.

Today Micachu & The Shapes release their debut album, Jewellery, in the UK (April 7th in the US). Filled with "brilliant pop moments (says the Observer) and "deceptively mellifluous bedsit pop" (according to the Times Online), Jewellery is an engaging, compelling, and often surprising listen.

Today, MBV Music is streaming the album in its entirety and celebrating its release. MBV writers will be contributing their thoughts and commentary on the album all day.
