Hear The New Metric Album, “Fantasies”

Metric teamed with one of the best artists’ technology companies, Topspin Media, for their upcoming release Fantasies. Check out the streaming player above– it features the full album, in addition to the downloadable MP3, “Help I’m Alive.” Go check out the pre-order page too, and take note of how they’re doing that new “tons of different packages to choose from” thing (including an option for a $64.99 super-deluxe package!) Fantasies comes out on 4/14.

Dean Wermer says:I don’t get it. I like the streamed album. I’d like to purchase it and listen to it today, and tomorrow, and tell my friends about how much I love it. Oh, but wait, I can pay for it today, get a couple of tracks today, but can’t get digital delivery of the whole album for several more weeks, huh, oh why? Must take time for the 1’s and 0’s to make their way through the tubes that make up the interwebs. But wait, it seems to be all over the web for free right now. Hmmmmmm. The biz strategy makes no sense to me. You’ve interested me, have me ready to make an impulse purchase, then you say no. Oh, Metric, you tease. And bad business. Yeah, yeah, that’s the way it’s always been done, publicity roll-out and the like. Dumb. You know, I think I’d like to see Metric in concert. Let’s see when they are in my hood. Oh, no tour dates yet – coming soon. Great. And people wonder why the music biz is in the crapper. End of rant.

Ryan Catbird says:Actually, I asked when this was okay for posting and was fairly pretty surprised when they said today! Being that the release date was still so far off, I really didn’t expect that. I guess the idea is to listen to it and enjoy it now solely through the streaming players alone, but I know what you’re talking about for sure, Dean. In today’s age, I figure you’re lucky if you get even *one* chance to get someone to buy your record, and it’s a good idea to be able to give them the instant gratification of that buy in that (perhaps one and only) moment that you’ve captured their attention.

Dean Wermer says:Exactly Ryan. By the way, I’ve really grown to like this site quite a lot. In particular, the large graphics/photos/embeds. And the ability to stream/download easily most everything mentioned, as well as the fairly regular full album streams. It’s very well done and a really nice change of pace from the cram absolutely everything in, man this page looks really busy, make things ever smaller trend of the ‘fork and ‘gum. I hope the site is a success for you guys – even if it eventually leads to adverts, etc. Cheers.
