Joe Pernice: New Novel, CD, Tour, Single for Sub Pop
You guys know that Joe Pernice has a novel coming out on 8/6 called It Feels So Good When I Stop, right? He does. And there’s also going to be a soundtrack for the novel, out 8/4, that features Joe & Co. covering songs mentioned in the book, including Sebadoh’s “Soul and Fire,” and Todd Rundgren’s “Hello It’s Me,” among others.
Now here’s the tricksy part: the fictional band from the book is called Young Accuser, and in the book, the band records a song called “Black Smoke (No Pope)” for Sub Pop… now, the song appears on the soundtrack CD, but it also may or may not be released as an actual Sub Pop single. I can’t tell for sure, because the info on the Pernice Brothers site couldn’t possibly be any more vague about it.
EDIT: Okay, so it’s real, and it’s out 8/4.
Joe kicks off a brief reading/music tour for the book on 8/5.
