Listen@MBV: Richard Hell & the Voidoids – “Destiny Street Repaired”
When I posted news last month of Richard Hell redoing his 1982 Destiny Street album, I noticed that people (from ILM and beyond) seemed quite upset, dubious, or otherwise freaked out by the news. Well, I’m here to tell you now: there’s nothing to worry about. Destiny Street Repaired sounds amazing. And you don’t just have to take my word for it; judge for yourself: we’ve got the whole album streaming for you right here at MBV.
The album features rescued rhythm tracks from the 1982 sessions by Robert Quine, Naux, Fred Maher and Hell, with all new vocals by Hell plus new guitar additions by Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell and Ivan Julian (you can check out the full credits on our dedicated Destiny Street Repaired streaming player page). Oh, and be sure to get your pre-order in well before the 9/1 release date (especially if you want to snag a copy of the limited-edition signed-by-Richard vinyl).
