In addition to all the previously announced Mexican Summer releases for 2009, there are a few new additions and notes. There’s a 7-inch slated from Chicago’s Campfires (“Stormy Late Fall”, “Rustic Arcadia” b/w “She Was Down”)…
MP3: Campfires – “Rustic Arcadia”
…and what was originally thought to be a 7″ from San Francisco’s Weekend is actually a 10″ (“All-American” b/w “Youth Haunts” )…
…there’s also a 12″ due from Viva L’American Death Ray Music, and a heap of exclusive 7-inches, due in January, featuring live in-studio recordings of Small Black, Crystal Antlers, Smith Westerns, and more.
And sadly, the Mayfair Set 7″ has been pushed back to 2010.

Dominant Legs – “Just Silly Ones” Fader has just posted two more MP3s from San Francisco’s Dominant Legs. That makes it a grand total of four tracks you can now nab for free from this talented kid who’s opening on the Girls tour starting Mid-November. Grab these demos now, because DL’s gonna get signed and these tracks are get scrubbed from the ætherweb.

Matias Aguayo - “Rollerskate” Cat made of grated ginger; chase her across town. Flit over fences, dive under gates, climb up ivy, slip into open windows. Steal silver necklaces, little diamonds, whole satchels full of catnip. We give lovers tiny kisses as they lay in their beds, breath rising & falling, then me and my cat of grated ginger leap onto widowsill and out, skimming the clothesline, gleaming in the white sun. Slide down eaves onto an Almost skateboard with Bones Swiss bearings, Venture trucks, four Ricta All-Stars. And oh, me and the kitty-cat glide. [buy]

Chicago’s unstoppable HoZac Records recently released a “Fall Batch” of new records (three 7-inches and one LP), and they’ve kindly given us a set of all 4 to give away! To enter, just leave a comment and tell us which song (or band) you dig the most. Congratulations to winner Cory Monteiro!

The Girls At Dawn
“Never Enough” b/w “Every Night”
MP3: The Girls At Dawn – “Never Enough”
Fuzzed-out girl pop from Brooklyn, marrying jangle and old-school doo-wop in a sweet lo-fi pop honey. Or, as the band describes themselves, “another idiot boner stoner bedroom garage punk jangley band.” [Myspace]

Sharp Ends
“Northern Front” b/w “Ghosts of Chance”
MP3: Sharp Ends – “Northern Front”
Postpunky Canucks with a driving dark streak. [Myspace]

Plastic Crimewave Sound
“Shockwave Rider” b/w “Bad Politics”
MP3: Plastic Crimewave Sound – “Shockwave Rider”
Heavy psych, which Norman Records accurately describes as “rocking like Sonic Youth covering Hawkwind(!)” [Myspace]
Wizzard Sleeve
Make The World Go Away
MP3: Wizzard Sleeve – “No Mongo”
Alabaman scuzzpunks Wizzard Sleeve turn in the lone LP of this Fall batch, giving you 12 inches of pure black glue-wave weirdness. [Myspace]
